Winter storm preparation tips and non-emergency phone numbers for reporting utility outages or non-emergency issues.
Due to anticipation of snowfall, predicted for Tuesday Evening and all of Wednesday, and the possibility of substantial accumulation and strong winds, the following information has been provided by the Vineland Office of Emergency Management:
The forecast indicated that winds may be stronger than the last snowstorm and may cause increasing difficulty while driving and may affect electrical service. Snow may begin falling around 4:00 PM on 02/09/10.
An emergency preparation kit should include a battery-powered radio and flashlight with extra batteries, a first aid kit, sufficient amounts of prescription medications, a list of style and serial numbers of medical devices, a supply of ready-to-eat non-perishable foods, bottled water, a non-electric can opener and warm clothing. Alternative heat sources should be in safe, operating condition with all users properly trained. The car’s gas tank and home heating fuel tanks should be filled prior to adverse weather. Shopping for food, medical and personal needs should also be done prior to the storm's arrival.
911 should be used to report health, fire, police and safety emergencies only.
Do not use 911 to report power outages or non-emergency issues.

Make a list of phone numbers of people in your neighborhood and check on each other to be sure everyone is safe and well. Try to avoid driving after a snowstorm to allow for street plowing. Do not shovel snow for long periods of time. Many heart-related and orthopedic injuries may result. Clear snow from fire hydrants, when safely possible.
Listen to area news media for official advisories and other information. Do not call the media. All information will be provided to the media as quickly as possible. Be sure to comply with official directives for your own safety.
