Blythe PD wants you to be aware and wear your bike helmets! Don't have one? We have some available for only $5!

The Blythe Police Department wants you and your children to be safe when riding your bicycles. The law states that a person under 18 years of age shall not operate a bicycle, a nonmotorized scooter, or a skateboard, nor shall they wear in-line or roller skates, nor ride upon a bicycle, a nonmotorized scooter, or a skateboard as a passenger, upon a street, bikeway, or any other public bicycle path or trail unless that person is wearing a properly fitted and fastened bicycle helmet. Starting February 8, 2010 our officers are giving written warnings to first-time offenders in an effort to reduce childhood injuries. Please ensure that your child has the proper equipment. If your child does not have a helmet, one may be purchased from the Blythe Police Department for only five dollars, as supplies permit. Each helmet will be fitted by qualified personnel, during normal business hours. This program is partially funded by the California Kids’ Plates Program and the Blythe Police Department Childhood Injury Prevention Program.
