Summary of today’s 2pm conference call/webinar……. There is a High Wind Warning in effect to our east while we are currently in a Winter Weather Warning until further notice. Current Snowfall is 1.5inches to 3inches throughout the county. Heavy snow will begin to start around 4pm in time for the afternoon commute until late morning Friday. 6-10 inches are predicted for this evening with Heavy white out conditions and below ½ mile visibilities into the morning commute in which snow will continue to add up to another 2inches from 7am Friday morning till 7pm Friday evening. The county will have between 6-10 inches overall except for Mount Carmel, Mount Carmel Twp and Kulpmont borough which are predicted to have between 10-15 inches of a snow total.
Winds are expect to be between 20-30mph this afternoon and pickup overnight from 30-40mph causing power outages and some snow drifting. Temperatures will remain in the 20’s for this afternoon and drop down to the single digits and low teens overnight into tomorrow afternoon while the wind chill will be kept in the single digits for most of the day.
The Northumberland County Emergency Management Agency will continue to monitor the weather at this time as it progresses into the evening.
