Volunteers needed to distribute water safety information on Sat, March 27. Sign up by calling 480-312-1817.

Scottsdale Fire Department has partnered with Cardon Children's Medical Center and other valley fire departments for the Fourth Annual Walk for Water Safety event, 9am-12pm, March 27.

The agencies are united to educate the community about drowning prevention and to work toward a common goal: ZERO drownings in 2010. The goal is to visit 60,000 homes across the valley to distribute information about water safety. This year’s event will also include walks in Glendale, Peoria, Goodyear, Apache Junction, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, and Queen Creek.

Volunteers are needed for the walk in targeted Scottsdale neighborhoods. Those interested in participating should contact Lori Schmidt, Public Education Officer, (480) 312-1817 or lschmidt@scottsdaleaz.gov.

Individuals who wish to walk in their own neighborhoods can pick up bags during the week before March 27 or any time after the walk.
