VEHICLE BURGLARIES AND THEFTS OF TWO VEHICLES 7/10/10
In the overnight hours of late last Friday night (7/9/10) into early Saturday morning (7/10/10) multiple vehicles were illegally entered while they were parked in the lots of 5 separate hotels in Parsippany. Many of the vehicles were burglarized with small electronics being reported stolen. Four vehicles were broken into in the Hampton Inn parking lot on Rt. 46, but nothing was reported stolen. Seven vehicles were reported burglarized at the Embassy Suites located on Parsippany Blvd. with $11,500.00 worth of electronics reported stolen. One vehicle was burglarized at 1 Hilton Ct. in the Hilton Hotel lot with $250.00 worth of small electronics reported stolen. In addition to those burglaries, a 2000 Jaguar was reported stolen from the lot of the Ramada Inn on Rt. 46 valued at approx. $10,000.00 and a 2004 Chevy Conversion Van was reported stolen from the Parsippant Marriott lot on Rt. 46 valued at $45,000.00. The incidents happened between 8:30 P.M. Friday night and 9:00 A.M. on Saturday morning. Members of the Parsippany Police Department Investigative Division are conducting an active and ongoing investigation into the incidents. VEHICLE FIRE UNDER INVESTIGATION 7/16/10 3:13 A.M.
Police responded to a Sweetwood Ct. residence just after 3:00 A.M. to investigate a report of a vehicle on fire. Upon their arrival, officers observed a Toyota minivan that was engulfed in flames. The unoccupied vehicle was parked in the driveway of the residence by the owner at approx. 9:00 P.M. last night. District 5 Fire and Rockaway Neck Volunteer Ambulance responded to the scene. The fire was extinguished by members of District 5 Fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by members of this department. No injuries were reported.
