Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident
FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT
ON 08-06-10 AT 5:40P.M., THE MCLEOD COUTNY SHERIFF’S OFFICE, ALONG WITH THE MINNESOTA STATE PATROL, SILVER LAKE AMBULANCE, SILVER LAKE FIRE DEPT, HUTCHINSON AMBULANCE AND HUTCHINSON FIRE DEPT RESPONDED TO A TWO VEHICLE ACCIDENT THAT OCCURRED AT THE INTERSECTION OF 200TH ST AND MAJOR AVE, WEST OF SILVER LAKE. AS A RESULT OF THE CRASH, THE DRIVER, 21 YEAR OLD, SAMUEL SCHROEDER OF HUTCHINSON, DIED AT THE SCENE. THE CRASH IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION BY THE MCLEOD COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND THE MINNESOTA STATE PATROL, ADDITIONAL INFORMATION WILL BE RELEASED WHEN IT BECOMES AVAILABLE.
On 8/6/2010 at 5:40 P.M., the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Major Avenue and 200th Street, west of Silver Lake. Vehicle #1, a 2008 Honda CR-V sport utility, owned and operated by Michel Anders Locquegnies, age 49, of Bloomington, received over $1,000 damage when it struck vehicle #2, a 1996 Volkswagon Golf 4 dr hatchback, owned by Tyler James Gustafson, age 21 of Glencoe, and driven by Samuel John Schroeder, age 21, of Hutchinson. Vehicle #2 also received over $1,000 damage. Vehicle #1 was northbound on Major Ave. Vehicle #2 was westbound on 200th Street. Vehicle #2 did not stop for the stop sign, which caused vehicle #1 to hit vehicle #2 in the driver’s side door. Both vehicles then skidded into the bean field on the northwest corner of the intersection. Vehicle #1 also contained passengers, Mary Jo Locquegnies, age 48; Mia Laura Locquegnies, age 11; and Melayna Ann Locquegnies, age 15; all from Bloomington as well. All occupants in vehicle #1 were wearing their seatbelts. Vehicle #2 also contained passenger, Natalie Ann Olmstead, age 17, of Hutchinson. Both occupants of vehicle #2 were wearing their seatbelts. Mr. Michel Locquegies was transported by the Silver Lake Ambulance to the Hutchinson hospital and later transported by Lifelink helicopter to Hennepin County Medical Center for injuries that he sustained. Mrs. Mary Jo Locquegnies was transported by the Hutchinson Ambualnce to the Hutchinson hospital for injuries sustained. Ms. Natalie Olmstead was transported by the Hutchinson Ambulance to the Hutchinson Hospital for injuries sustained. Mr. Samuel Schroeder was declared deceased at the scene from the extent of his injuries. Also assisting at the scene were the Minnesota State Patrol, the Hutchinson Fire & Rescue Department, the Silver Lake Fire Department, the Hutchinson Ambulance service, and the Silver Lake Ambulance service.
