Local Gas and Water utilities are warning residents of imposters who knock and want in to "check something".Be aware!

Southwest Gas and Las Vegas Valley Water District are warning residents about criminals posing as utility empployees to gain entry into homes. They are dressing in a uniform, knocking on doors, and requesting entry into homes to check something. Be aware and DO NOT LET ANYONE IN WITHOUT VERIFICATION! If you are not expecting a service call, check with the utility company directly to verify. Do not call any number they give you, but obtain the number from the local directory or information. Water district employees rarely need access to inside a home and Southwest Gas calls are usually scheduled with the homeowner in advance. If you get a knock at the door, VERIFY before opening. Call Metro if you think it is an imposter and keep an eye on them if possible. Also, contact the utility company and advise them as well.
