California Office of Traffic Safety & LASD Collision Reduction & Traffic Enforcement Program @nhtsagov

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, motor vehicle crashes killed 41,821 individuals and injured 3,189,000 others in 6.4 million crashes in 2005.

Driver inattention, vehicle speeds, alcohol impairment, perceptual errors, and decision errors, are the leading factors in most crashes and near-crashes.

Through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety

and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Traffic Services Bureau participates in traffic operations to cite and/or arrest drivers of motor vehicles who are driving in violation of any section of the California’s Vehicle Code that is considered a Primary Causal Factor violation.

All 42 cities that contract with the Sheriff’s Department will benefit from the grants special operations through our Traffic Services Bureau.

To date, the cities of Bellflower, Commerce, Compton, Lakewood, Lancaster, Lynwood, Maywood, Norwalk, Palmdale, Pico Rivera and Santa Clarita have participated in the special operation.
