Suspects arrested after string of convenience store robberies

Update: Suspect Arrested

Police Officers with the Fayetteville Police Department have made arrests in connection with a series of robberies of local convenience stores. 19 year old Joseph Raheem Wall, Jr. was taken into custody on September 14, 2011 after Police Officers responded to a report of a robbery around 11 PM at the Short Stop convenience store located at Owen Drive and Boone Trail. During the robbery, a black male wearing a red shirt and black shorts walked into the business, demanded money, and left the store on foot.

Information gathered during the course of the investigation connected Wall to the robbery, and the robberies of several other businesses to include:
• Kangaroo Convenience Store located at 2326 Owen Drive on August 25, 2011 and August 31, 2011, both incidents happened around 1 AM
• Kangaroo Convenience Store located at 1902 Owen Dr on September 9, 2011. The robbery occurred around 3 AM.
• Fusion Store located at 1057 Southern Avenue on August 19, 2011 around 9 PM and again on August 22, 2011 around 7 PM

Joseph Wall, Jr. has been charged with 1 count of Felony: Common Law Robbery, 3 counts of Felony: Robbery With a Dangerous Weapon, 4 counts of Felony: 2nd Degree Kidnapping, and 1 Count of Felony: Attempted Common Law Robbery.

During the course of the investigation, Joseph Wall’s brother, 20 year old Jamel Rakeem Wall was identified as the second suspect in a robbery that occurred at the Fusion Store on August 22, 2011. Warrants for Arrest have been issued for Jamel Wall. He is wanted for 1 count of Common Law Robbery and 1 count of 2nd Degree Kidnapping.

Robbery (9/9/2011)

Around 3:19 AM on September 9, 2011, an individual entered the Kangaroo Convenience Store at 1902 Owen Drive, asked for cigarettes, and then brandished a pistol and demanded money. After robbing the store of an undisclosed amount of currency, the suspect fled the area on foot towards Briar Circle. Video of the suspect robbing the store was captured on surveillance cameras and a picture of the suspect is included.

The suspect is described as:
• Black Male
• Early to mid Twenties
• 5’08” to 5’10” tall
• Medium Build
• Wearing a black do-rag and a black short sleeve shirt
