Deputy Jackson has an important message for you! Tis the season to be aware of would-be thieves.
Deputy Jackson has an important message for the Canyon Country community.
As we get ready for the holidays and gifts start to pile up in our homes, they become a potential target for those intent on committing crime. You and I get up every morning and prepare for a day of work and providing for our families, while criminals sleep in and dream of ways to deprive us of the things we work so hard to obtain.
Recently, there have been a number of residential burglaries which have occurred during the day between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. During these times the perpetrators have gained access through second story windows, sliding glass doors, and even garages.
Despite the fact a garage door is closed and seems secure, some doors can still be forced open. Once inside, the criminal may attempt to gain entry into your house through the interior door or steal items from your garage and parked cars.
Here are a few easy steps you can take to help avoid falling victim to this type of crime. Before you leave in the morning take a few minutes to secure all doors and windows. You can even place a stick in the window/door track or purchase inexpensive track locks at a local hardware store. Second, get a lock for your garage door. Yes, this will take a few extra minutes as you will have to get in and out of your car to lock and unlock your garage door, but it serves as a substantial deterrent.
Lastly, if you see something, say something. Most burglars are in the area sitting in cars watching and waiting for you to go to work. If your not sure of someone parked in the area, call the Sheriff's Department at 661-255-1121 and we will have a patrol unit respond to the area regarding your concerns.
Happy Holidays!
