Hockey jersey to be retired for officer who died due to medical reasons; son will drop puck to start benefit game.
Tomorrow is this year’s Guns N’ Hoses 9th Annual Hockey Benefit, where the jersey of Arlington Police Lt. David Killinger will be retired. Not long after David’s unexpected death due to medical reasons in 2010, his wife, Michelle, learned that their son suffers from Juvenile Batten Disease, a neurological disorder that affects vision, speech and motor skills. Unfortunately, this disease is fatal. There are plans for their son, Zach, to drop the puck at the start of the game. Arlington Police Officers and Arlington Firefighters, along with family and friends, will be on hand to celebrate this wonderful father, husband and officer’s life. David’s APD hockey jersey will be retired on Saturday, January 28, during the intermission of the game in Euless’s Dr Pepper StarCenter. The game begins at 7 p.m. To learn more, go to www.afdhockey.com.
