LASD News Release:
17-year old Bianca Olivares, an off-duty youth Explorer with the Walnut / Diamond Bar Sheriff''s Station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Dept., is credited for being well-prepared and taking quick action to help save a man's life.
She was on her way home with her father on March 19, 2012, when she saw a crowd of people surrounding an elderly man lying on the ground. She approached him and immediately realized he was in extreme distress, and she was unable to feel his pulse. In the absence of paramedics,
Explorer Olivares quickly administered CPR for approximately 3 minutes until Los Angeles County firefighters/paramedics arrived and began treatment. Once stabilized, the patient was transported to a nearby hospital. It was the opinion of paramedics that the quick response by Explorer Olivares was instrumental in saving the life of the patient. What a great teen!
