Norwalk 2000 Armored Car Robbery Suspect Arrested in Quebec, Canada, Extradited

On June 7, 2000 Sectran Security Armored Car employees completed a money pick up as part of their duties on the 14000 block of Pioneer Boulevard in Norwalk.

One of the employees, Suspect Vuthy Sok threatened his partner and stole a money bag containing a large amount of U.S. Currency and fled the scene. Suspect Sok was immediately identified and could not be located during the investigation.

Suspect Sok remained a fugitive for over 11 years and was featured several times on the America’s Most Wanted television show.

In July 2011, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Norwalk Sheriff’s Detectives were contacted by the Quebec City Police (Ville de Québec Police), Canada who advised that they may know the location of Suspect Sok.

Norwalk Sheriff’s Station detectives provided Canadian officials with certified fingerprints and an arrest warrant. Canadian officials continued their investigation and in late January of 2012, detained 39-year old Suspect Sok pending extradition to the United States.

Suspect Sok was extradited to Los Angeles on May 23, 2012 where he is being held on $50,000.00 bail for Robbery.

Suspect Sok is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 22, 2012 at Bellflower Court House. None of the stolen money has been recovered.
