Santa Clarita Sheriffs Station Deputies investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred during the night.

Santa Clarita Sheriff Station Traffic Investigators are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on McBean Parkway, just south of Avenida Navarre in Valencia (City of Santa Clarita).

Preliminary information indicates that a vehicle travelling northbound McBean Parkway lost control and collided into the center median. The vehicle came to rest after colliding into two trees.

The occupants were transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. One of the occupants was pronounced dead. The names of the injured are being withheld pending notification of their family members.

The collision occurred on 08/19/2012 at approximately 1:30am. One of the occupants was a female, and the other was a male.

The cause of the collision is currently under investigation and any witnesses to the collision are urged to contact Detective Maag at (661) 799-5112.
