Carjacking in Lomita leads to attempt murder arrest - LASD
On Wed, October 17, 2012, Lomita Station deputies responded to the 25800 block of Appian Way regarding a Carjacking call. A Hispanic man forcibly took a woman’s Toyota Sienna and drove toward 259th Street and Walnut Street, where it appeared that he deliberately drove over the sidewalk and struck a man who was standing near a doorway to a business in the 1800 block of Pacific Coast Highway.
The suspect abandoned the car near Western Avenue and 256th Street. He was seen jumping from roof top to roof top by citizens in the area of the 1600 block of 256th Street. Sheriff’s Deputies assisted by Los Angeles Police Department personnel contained the area and found the suspect, 34 year-old Ignacio Perez hiding under a trailer. Perez refused to come out from under the trailer despite being pepper sprayed. Ultimately he complied after deputies utilized a taser.
Perez was arrested and booked at Lomita Station for Attempt Murder and Carjacking and is being held in lieu of $ 500,000 bail.
The male victim who was struck by the suspect was taken to a local hospital where he is being treated for his injuries and listed in critical condition.
