2 West Covina Burglaries

On Wednesday, December 19, 2012, a residential burglary occurred in the 1300 block of E. Louisa, West Covina. Several items, including the 67 year old victim’s Vietnam-era Military uniform and his medals were stolen. When the victim discovered the burglary, he smelled gas in the house and found all of the gas stove burners on without the flame.
On Monday, December 24, 2012, another residential burglary occurred in the 600 block of N. Eileen Avenue, West Covina. Among the property that was reported stolen was a new drum set, credit cards and the victim’s 2012 Gray colored Acura TL which had been parked in the garage. The gas stove burners were also found on without the flame, filling the home with gas.
While West Covina Police Officers were investigating this burglary, the victims received a call from a credit card company stating someone was attempting to use one of their stolen cards at the Kmart store in Covina. Officers responded to that location and stopped a car carrying the suspects from Kmart. Inside the vehicle were numerous items taken from the burglary on Eileen Avenue, including the drum set. Items taken from the Louisa burglary, methamphetamine for sales and a handgun were also found in the vehicle.
Arrested for suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of Methamphetamine for sales, possession of a loaded firearm are:
• Lorena Pauline Garcia, 27 of Covina Bail $130,000.00
• Michael Wayne Beightol, 36 of Covina Bail $115,000.00
• Shelby Annette Teter, 18 of Covina Bail $50,000.00
Garcia and Beightol appeared for arraignment at West Covina Superior court on 12/26/12 and are scheduled to appear on January 11, 2013 for the preliminary hearing. Teter is schedule for arraignment on Monday, December 31, 2012.
On December 26, 2012, West Covina PD received a call from LASD – San Dimas station regarding a separate investigation they were conducting at the residence of suspect Lorena Garcia. Inside the Covina residence, numerous property items believed to be stolen were found. Among the items was the Vietnam-era Military uniform and medals belonging to the 12/19/12 burglary victim on Louisa, and additional items belonging to the 12/24/12 burglary victim on Eileen. Other items found in the residence are believed to have been stolen in other burglaries.
The investigation is continuing.
