Belvidere Police Seek Whereabouts of Gang Related Homicide Suspects
THE BELVIDERE POLICE DEPARTMENT IS SEEKING INFORMATION ON THE WHEREABOUTS OF A WANTED SUBJECT AND THE IDENTITY OF ANOTHER IN CONNECTION TO A GANG RELATED HOMICIDE.
DEONTAE MURRAY, 21 YEARS OLD AND KNOWN GANG MEMBER OF BELVIDERE, IS WANTED FOR FIRST DEGREE MURDER. ON MONDAY, APRIL 22, 2013, BELVIDERE POLICE DETECTIVES OBTAINED A NO BOND WARRANT FOR MURRAY.
ON SUNDAY, APRIL 21, 2013, AT APPROX 6:35 PM, BELVIDERE POLICE RESPONDED TO A CALL OF A SHOOTING AT THE SHELL GAS STATION LOCATED IN THE 1000 BLOCK OF NORTH STATE STREET IN BELVIDERE. ACCORDING TO WITNESSES, FOUR SUBJECTS GOT INTO AN ALTERCATION IN THE PARKING LOT. ONE OF THE SUBJECTS PULLED OUT A HANDGUN AND SHOT A SUBJECT IN THE CHEST. MURRAY AND ANOTHER UNKNOWN HISPANIC MALE FLED THE SCENE ON FOOT.
OFFICERS ARRIVED ON THE SCENE AND DISCOVERED A 33 YEAR OLD VICTIM WHO HAD BEEN SHOT IN THE CHEST. OFFICERS BEGAN CPR ON THE VICTIM UNTIL BELVIDERE FIRE AND LIFELINE AMBULANCE ARRIVED. THE VICTIM WAS TRANSPORTED TO SWEDISH AMERICAN HOSPITAL IN BELVIDERE WHERE THE VICTIM LATER DIED. THE VICTIM HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS RICHARD HERMAN OF BELVIDERE.
MURRAY IS DESCRIBED AS BEING A BLACK MALE, 6'01", 210 POUNDS, BLACK HAIR, AND BROWN EYES. THE OTHER PERSON OF INTEREST IS DESCRIBED AS BEING A HISPANIC MALE, 5’07”, 150 POUNDS, BLACK HAIR AND GOES BY THE STREET NAME OF KING WACKO. FIRST DEGREE MURDER IS PUNISHABLE BY TWENTY (20) YEARS TO LIFE IN THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS.
