Police Department Unveils Online Crime Mapping

The City of Costa Mesa proudly unveils its online crime mapping program as part of its continuing effort to actively communicate with residents and visitors. As part of our ongoing effort to collaborate with the community to solve crime and quality of life issues, the Police Department has developed a crime mapping/calls for service program.

Our goal is to reduce crime and quality of life issues negatively impacting our community through a better informed citizenry. The crime mapping program is designed to keep our residents continually informed about crimes, arrests and other police related activities occurring in Costa Mesa.

There are two types of information that can be viewed on the website, and they are identified as “Calls for Service” and “Crime Map.” The Calls for Service link displays all calls for service dispatched, whether or not the call results in a report being taken. The Crime Map link displays only those calls for service that actually result in a report. The information is taken from our Telecommunications Center and updated every four minutes, capturing the last seven days of our police activity.

To view this program: go to the City of Costa Mesa’s Home Page at; click on the “POLICE” tab located on the bottom menu; click on the “CRIME INFORMATION” tab located on the left-side menu; and click on the “CRIME MAP” tab located on the right-side menu. Once you are connected you can immediately search for highlights of current criminal activity. Citizens with questions about the new crime mapping program are encouraged to contact Crime Prevention Specialist Kelly Vucinic at 714-754-4876.
