Injury Traffic Collision on Wednesday 07-17-13 at Santa Ana Ave & E 17th St.

On Wednesday, July 17th at 5:30 PM officers responded to the intersection of Santa Ana Ave. and E. 17th Street regarding a vehicle that had rolled over onto a pedestrian.

James Dickens was driving his Toyota Sequoia northbound through the intersection at the same time Kaitlyn Wetzel was driving her Honda Civic in the opposite direction. Both motorists were traveling through a green light. The Sequoia turned left in front of the Civic which was traveling southbound through the intersection. The subsequent collision redirected the Civic causing it to roll over onto a blind 46 year-old male pedestrian who happened to be standing on the southwest corner of the intersection.

The pedestrian was transported to Western Medical Center, Santa Ana for non-life threatening injuries. The Civic’s driver was released at the scene with a complaint of pain to her right knee. The Sequoia’s driver, who complained of pain to his left wrist, was transported to Hoag Hospital for treatment.

The collision is under further investigation and no additional details are being released at this time.

Witnesses with information regarding the collision should notify Traffic Investigator Darren Wood at 714-754-5264.
