On August 12, 2013 the Redding Police Department was contacted by Michael Dacquisto regarding a burglary to his law office at 1901 Court Street. The suspect entered the business at an unknown time over the weekend and a large quantity of property was stolen. The suspect also gained access to a safe at the business and multiple checks were stolen.
On August 13, 2013 the Redding Police Department was recontacted by the victim. The victim advised Officer Mike DiMatteo that the stolen checks were being cashed at various businesses in Redding. Officer DiMatteo identified Danielle LeeAnn Hodges, 27 years of Redding, as the suspect cashing the stolen checks at Hinkle’s Market, 1084 Market Street, and the Downtown Market, 1821 Placer Street. Benjamin Richard Tiner, 29 years of Redding, was also identified as the suspect attempting to cash the stolen checks at the Redding Bank of Commerce at 1177 Placer Street.
On August 13, 2013 Officer Garrett Maxwell located a stolen vehicle at 1175 Orange Street. The stolen vehicle was occupied by Cory Jay Donaldson, 33 years of Redding, and Chelsea Ann Belzer, 25 years of Redding. Donaldson is currently on parole for burglary and county probation for misappropriation of found property. Stolen checks from several burglaries, including the Dacquisto burglary, were located in the stolen vehicle.
The stolen vehicle had been reported to the Redding Police Department on August 3, 2103 by Michael Schultz, Jr. On the date the vehicle was stolen, Schultz was visiting his parents in Redding while on military leave from the United States Army.
Cory Donaldson was arrested and booked for possession of stolen property, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, and a violation of parole. Chelsea Belzer was arrested and booked for three warrants.
Investigators conducted a parole search at the apartment of Cory Donaldson in the 1500 block of Chestnut Street. Jade Mira Lonich, 20 years of Redding, and Justin Kelly Lonich, 40 years of Redding, were located at the apartment. Stolen checks and credit cards from multiple burglaries in the City of Redding and Shasta County were located. A service medal from the United States Army was also located in a safe owned by Donaldson. The service medal was determined to be owned by Michael Schultz, Jr.
Jade Lonich was arrested and booked at the Shasta County Jail for possession of stolen property. Justin Lonich was released with a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officer DiMatteo located Danielle Hodges at the Win-River Casino. Hodges was transported to Redding Police Investigations and interviewed. Hodges admitted to receiving the checks from Cory Donaldson and cashing the checks at the businesses. Charges were filed on Hodges for possession of stolen property and the case was submitted to the Shasta County District Attorney.
