4th of July Safety For Our 4 Legged Family Members

On the 4th of July, we celebrate our Great Nation’s Independence. For many of us this means Friends, Family, and FIREWORKS - but for our beloved pets, this means FEAR.

As you plan your holiday festivities, please take a moment to plan for your pets. Here are some basic safety guidelines:

• DON'T take your pets with you to noisy celebrations
• DO leave your pets at home, where they can feel safe
• DON'T leave your pets in a car
• DO make sure your pets have plenty of water and shade
• DON'T give your pet a bath and forget to put its collar back on
• DO make sure your pet is wearing identification, with up-to-date contact information

If your pet goes missing,
• DON'T assume it will come home on its own
• DO contact the Animal Shelter

Animals picked up by Costa Mesa Animal Control will be taken to Orange County Humane Society at 21632 Newland St., Huntington Beach. The Shelter is closed on the 4th of July but will reopen on July 5th at 10:00 am. Before going to the shelter, we recommend you contact them at 714-536-8480 to find out if your pet was picked up by Animal Control.

Have a SAFE and SANE 4th of July!
