Press Release: Medical Aid Response by Newport Beach Police and Fire Departments

On Friday, November 18, 2016 at 1:05 a.m., the Newport Beach Fire Department responded to a business in the 2400 block of Newport Boulevard in reference to a medical aid call.  Upon their arrival, Fire Department staff discovered four adult males in medical distress, at which point they began operating under Multi-Casualty Incident protocols and requested assistance from the Newport Beach Police Department.  Police Department staff responded to the scene to assist and to initiate an investigation into the incident.
The four patients were transported to various area hospitals to receive treatment.  The cause and nature of their medical conditions are currently under investigation.  We are still working to confirm the identities of the patients.
The Newport Beach Police Department is requesting the assistance of anyone who can provide information about the activities surrounding this incident.  Witnesses or persons with additional details are encouraged to contact Detective Rick Henry at 949-644-3797 or  Tips may be made anonymously.
