UPDATE - SAPD Detectives Arrest 3rd Suspect in Cafe Robbery


SAPD Detectives received a tip from an Orange County Sheriff's Department Robbery Detective that the third suspect our agency was looking for in this robbery was a Marc Louis Gold (21) Fountain Valley. Our detectives were informed that suspect Gold was arrested by the Orange County Sheriff's Department for a similar cafe robbery in the City of Stanton on 11/26/16 and was currently out on bail.

This morning SAPD Detectives arrested Gold at his residence in the City of Fountain Valley. He has been booked into SAPD Jail for the charge of robbery.

- 1st UPDATE-
Based on Information obtained after the video release to the media and community on November 23rd, 2016, Detectives received tips leading to the identity of the two suspects in this case. On December 2, 2016, Suspect #2, a 17-year old Westminster resident turned himself in to the Detectives after seeing himself on the television news coverage. On December 8, 2016, Suspect #1, a 17-year old Santa Ana resident was arrested by detectives at his residence. Both of the suspects were arrested for armed robbery and placed into Juvenile Hall. To date, neither of the weapons in the robbery have been recovered.

Based on their investigation, Robbery Detectives believe the lone male seated at the counter was an active participant in the planning and participation of this crime. He is described as a male Hispanic, 20-25 years old, 5-6 to 5-8, thin build. It is believed his first name is “Mark”, and he is often seen in the west end of Santa Ana where he may reside.

Suspect #1: Male Hispanic or Asian, 18-25 years old, black hair, medium build, 5’ 7” -5’ 9”, wearing black and gray baseball cap (unknown writing on front), black bandana covering face, black sweatshirt (crew neck), black shorts (long), white socks (tall), black sneakers (white laces, appear to be Vans style skate shoes), armed Black semi-auto handgun.

Suspect #2: Male Hispanic or Asian, 15-21 years old, black hair, thin build, 5’ 5” -5’7”, wearing black bandana covering lower face, gray short sleeve tee shirt, black shorts (basketball type), white and black socks (tall), black sneakers (white laces, appear to be Vans style skate shoes), armed with knife.

On Monday, 11/21/2016 at 3:15pm, a male Hispanic entered the M&Toi Café and sat down at the bar. After several minutes the male appeared to text unknown person(s) and approximately a minute later, two male suspects wearing bandanas to cover their faces entered the business armed with a handgun and a knife. The suspects demanded the female victim to open the register. The lone male Hispanic seated at the bar then walked around the back of the counter, removed the money from the register and fled along with the two armed suspects. The loss was US Currency.
