#LASD Lakewood Station Deputy Personnel Participate in Active Shooter Training, Lakewood

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lakewood Station deputies, in conjunction with Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Tactics and Survival Training Unit (TAS), Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB), and Los Angeles County Fire personnel conducted a “Rapid Response Active Shooter Training” at Artesia High School in the City of Lakewood. The training event occurred on Friday, July 28, 2017, at 7 a.m. on the 12100 Block of Del Amo Boulevard, City of Lakewood.

The training staff conducted several realistic problems involving multiple active shooters at the high school.  Explorers and station volunteers acted as role players as they were dressed up to look like victims.

The scenarios were designed to provide deputies with high quality training and skills needed to respond to a critical incident. Emergency response vehicles, and a helicopter also took part in the training.

Deputies entered the school and brought the situations to a safe resolution.  While the scenarios were conducted, rescue personnel entered the area and rescued the wounded victims.

This type of training is something the Sheriff’s Department does regularly, but on a much smaller scale.  Running a training of this magnitude is critical for other agencies and different bureaus from our department, as it brings us all together under a unified command.

Anyone with questions about this event is encouraged to contact Lakewood Sheriff’s station at (562) 623-3500.
