The Burlington Township Police Department would like to advise area residents of a new scam that has been brought to our attention. The scam involves residents receiving an email that purports to be a official memorandum from the Department of Homeland Security. The memorandum explains that a large sum of money, $10,500,000.00, has been seized from a suspect. The memorandum states that this money is yours has been diverted away from you by employees of the United States government. In order to release the money to you, the memorandum requests that you provide your first name, middle name, last name, age, occupation, marital status, direct telephone/fax number, and residential address. Residents are urged NOT TO RESPOND to this email. It is a SCAM!
