Attempted Burglary and package theft suspect in custody. - Date Correction

RELEASE DATE:  March 06, 2018
SUBJECT:  Attempted burglary and package theft arrest
On March 06, 2018, at approximately 3:53 PM, a resident in the 2100 block of Lombardy Rd. called the San Marino Police Department to report a suspicious male subject seen in her rear yard. 
Officers responded and located a subject who matched the description given by the reporting party.  Through witness identification and security camera evidence, it was determined the subject (later identified as Troy Smith, 38 years old out of La Verne) attempted to gain entry through a rear sliding door of the above residence.  It was also determined he also removed a package from the porch of a residence located in the 600 block of Chester Ave.  
Troy Smith was subsequently arrested for PC 664/459 – Attempted Burglary, and PC 530.5(e) – Mail Theft.  He was transported to Alhambra Police Department Jail for housing pending arraignment on March 8, 2018 in Alhambra Superior Court.
