Fatal Hit and Run Arrest

On Monday, September 17, 2018, at approximately 5:00 AM, Torrance Police Officers responded to the area of Hawthorne Boulevard and 227th Street after a passerby reported a bicyclist was down.  Upon arrival, Officers located an unresponsive bicyclist in the northbound #4 lane of Hawthorne Boulevard.  Officers administered CPR; however, the victim unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.  The suspect did not remain at the location and fled the scene.
Over a two week period, Detectives closely analyzed the evidence left at the scene, and carefully looked into each of the many tips that were called in from the public.
Today, investigators located the involved vehicle (2009 Toyota 4Runner) and arrested Thomas Hudson (37 yrs of Rancho Palos Verdes) at his residence.
This collision was investigated by the Torrance Police Department’s Traffic Division under the command of Captain Mark Underwood, Commander of the Special Operations Bureau  (DR 180044775).

The Torrance Police Department’s Traffic Division is grateful to continually partner with our residents and surrounding communities to solve cases such as these.  The Torrance Police Department continues to encourages its residents to, “See Something, Say Something.”
