WATER MAIN BREAK AFFECTING A PORTION OF SUNSET BOULEVARD
Residents Urged to Conserve Water Until Further Notice

Beverly Hills, Calif. (December 16, 2018) – Residents and visitors are urged to avoid Sunset Boulevard in the vicinity of Alpine Drive as crews work to mitigate a water main break.

The City of Beverly Hills is working with the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) and Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) to determine the exact source of the leak as the area is serviced by multiple water lines.

Once the point of the leak is discovered, repairs will be made. The extent of the damage and duration of the repair are yet to be determined.

As the Metropolitan Water District (MWD) is the primary water provider for the City of Beverly Hills, the City is preparing to be solely reliant on local water supplies. Residents, businesses and visitors are urged to conserve water when possible, including the elimination of landscape watering for the next seven days.

Out of an abundance of caution, a portion of Sunset Boulevard is temporarily closed at Alpine Drive. Eastbound Sunset is closed at Rexford Drive with traffic being diverted north and south; traffic on southbound Alpine is being diverted to westbound Sunset; North Alpine Drive is closed. Westbound Sunset is restricted to one lane. Heavy traffic is anticipated. Drivers should avoid the area and plan for added commute times until the roadway is open.

The City of Beverly Hills will provide additional information late Sunday. After 3:00pm, please contact Public Works Customer Service at 310-285-2467 for more information.
