***Suspect Arrested in the Shooting of a 10 Year Old***

LOCATION:      1100 Block of Cornelia St, Pomona, Ca.

CRIME:             664/187 PC – Attempt Homicide

VICTIM:             Withheld due to age.

SUSPECT:        Jaivon Bonner, 29 year old, Pomona Resident

 UNIT:                Investigative Services Div./ Major Crimes Unit


On 10-21-18 at approximately 4:00PM, several residents began to call 911 to report gunshots being fired in the area of the 1100 Block of Cornelia St. When officers arrived they learned a 10 year old juvenile had been struck by gunfire as he waited inside a family vehicle. Major Crimes Detectives were called in to investigate the shooting.

The investigators conducted an exhaustive search for the suspects. During the search & investigation they learned Jaivon Bonner was an active participant in the shooting that injured the 10 year old victim. The case was presented to the LA County District Attorney’s Office where “Attempted Murder” charges were filed against Jaivon Bonner. His whereabouts was unknown; therefore, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Detectives continued their search for the suspect, however, on February 08, 2019, they learned Jaivon Bonner had been arrested by the Ontario Police Department on un-related charges. During his arrest he was found to be in possession of a firearm.

He now faces criminal charges in San Bernardino County. Eventually, Javion Bonner will be brought back to Los Angeles County to face attempted murder charges. The investigation is ongoing. The 10 year old victim is doing fine and was released from the hospital soon after the incident.

Additionally, Javion Bonner is also wanted in Chicago, IL for un-related weapons charges.
