AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ON A PUBLIC SERVANT AND EVADING ARREST SUSPECT CAPTURED

LAST NIGHT AT APPROXIMATELY 10:16PM, A TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY TROOPER WAS CONDUCTING A TRAFFIC STOP ON THE SOUTHBOUND FREEWAY NEAR THE MALL ACROSS FROM OAK RIDGE NORTH.    THE DRIVER WAS ACTING NERVOUS AND REACHING UNDER THE DRIVER SEAT FOR AN UNKNOWN ITEM AND WOULD NOT FOLLOW THE TROOPERS COMMANDS.    THE TROOPER REACHED INTO THE VEHICLE TO STOP THE SUSPECT FROM TRYING TO REACH FOR WHATEVER MAY HAVE BEEN UNDER THE DRIVER SEAT.    AT THAT TIME THE  DRIVER ACCELERATED AND TOOK OFF, DRAGGING THE TROOPER.    THE TROOPER WAS ABLE TO FREE HIMSELF FROM THE SUSPECTS VEHICLE RESULTING IN NON-LIFE THREATING INJURIES TO THE TROOPER.    THE TROOPER WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL.    OFFICERS FROM NUMEROUS AGENCIES BEGAN TO SEARCH FOR THE SUSPECT AND VEHICLE.    AT APPROXIMATELY 1:38A, SGT TESKE OF YOUR OAK RIDGE NORTH POLICE DEPT. OBSERVED A W/M WALKING ON THE  SOUTHBOUND SERVICE RD NEAR RESEARCH FOREST WEARING ONLY A PAIR OF SHORTS.    SGT TESKE TURNED AROUND TO TALK TO THE MALE, HOWEVER THE MALE TOOK OFF RUNNING.    BELIEVING THIS TO BE THE SUSPECT FROM THE ASSAULT ON THE TROOPER A PERIMETER WAS QUICKLY SET UP.    SHORTLY THERE AFTER OFFICER RICHARD OF THE OAK RIDGE NORTH POLICE FOUND THE SUSPECT AND YELLED FOR HIM STOP.    THE SUSPECT TOOK OFF RUNNING AGAIN, BUT WAS NO MATCH FOR OFFICER RICHARD.    OFFICER RICHARD CAUGHT UP TO THE SUSPECT APPROXIMATELY 200 YARDS FROM WHERE OFFICER RICHARD FIRST OBSERVED HIM.   OFFICER RICHARD TACKLED THE SUSPECT AND A BRIEF STRUGGLE ENSUED.    HOWEVER THE SUSPECT WAS ONCE AGAIN NO MATCH FOR OFFICER RICHARD AND THE SUSPECT WAS PLACED IN HANDCUFFS AND RELEASED TO DPS.
