GBPD to honor Police week by hosting a Peace Officers Memorial

Please join the Green Bay Police Department today at 12:00 PM for a short ceremony to commemorate Peace Officers Memorial Day. The ceremony will be held in front of the Police Department by the memorial. This is a ceremony to honor all local, state, and federal peace officers who have died in the line of duty.

In 1962 President John F Kennedy signed into law that every May 15th be Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week May 15th falls in to be National Police Week “to pay tribute to the law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and to voice our appreciation for all those who currently serve on the front lines of the battle against crime”. (The wording in direct from the proclamation)
