Costa Mesa Police Department and the Orange County Probation Department conducted a joint probation compliance sweep

On Monday, 06-17-13, Costa Mesa Police Department and the Orange County Probation Department conducted a joint probation compliance sweep at numerous locations throughout the city of Costa Mesa as part of the city’s zero tolerance program against probationers who violate terms of their probation.

Officers from both agencies participated in a collaborative effort performing compliance checks on probationers assigned to the Post-Release Community Supervision (PRCS) program as part of State Assembly Bill 109 (state prison realignment).

Compliance checks were performed at housing locations to locate and audit activities of probationers to confirm they are maintaining compliance with conditions of their probation and that no new crimes have been committed.

This joint probation compliance sweep proved successful in that 7 persons were arrested by officers throughout the evening.

The following is a summary of the arrests:

 1 probationer arrested for violation of probation (registered sex offender/transient on PRCS status); arrested along 1600 block of Superior Ave.
 1 probationer arrested for violation of probation (registered sex offender on formal probation status); arrested along 1500 block of Superior Ave.
 1 probationer (informal probation status) arrested for warrants; arrested along 100 block of 17th St.
 1 parolee arrested for warrants and violation of parole; arrested along 200 block of Monte Vista Ave.
 1 female (non-probationer and non-parolee) arrested for possession of narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia; arrested along 200 block of Monte Vista Ave.
 1 male (non-probationer and non-parolee) arrested for possession of narcotics paraphernalia; arrested at New Harbor Inn, 2205 Harbor Blvd.
 1 male (non-probationer and non-parolee) arrested for possession of a switchblade knife; arrested along 2300 block of Westminster Ave.

Over 20 people were contacted by officers throughout the sweep. 14 PRCS offender residences were searched, and 4 PRCS offenders were contacted.
