The suspect arrested in today’s standoff has been identified as: Randell Turner, a 40 year old Union City resident. Randell surrendered to officers at 11:30 A.M. and was taken to a local hospital for precautionary measures. Randell was initially arrested for felony charges of domestic violence, criminal threats, false imprisonment, and threatening officers. While at the hospital he acquired additional charges for threatening and assaulting hospital staff. He will be held for medical treatment and booked into jail after release.

Subject on the 1800 block of Baylor Street has safely surrendered.  Residents can return to homes and roadways are open.

On Thursday, June 15, 2017, at 7:29 A.M. Union City Police responded to investigate a possible domestic violence incident which was reported to police via 9-1-1.  Officers responded to the residence on the 1800 block of Baylor Street and attempted to speak with the occupants. Officers were initially unsure if this involved a potential hostage situation but everyone other than one adult male left the residence.  The lone subject remained inside the home and  refused to exit.  The SWAT team responded and negotiators spoke with the subject in an attempt to resolve this peacefully.

At 11:29 A.M. the subject safely surrendered to police and is being detained pending the investigation. No additional details are being provided at this time as this is an on-going investigation.  An update will follow later this afternoon.

The residents can return to their homes and the surrounding roadways are open.
