“Police Blotter” Highlights – Ending July 9, 2017

On Monday, July 3rd, around 3:15 p.m., Ofc. Rivas was dispatched to the Union Landing shopping center on the report of a robbery. The victim was walking home from the bank when a suspect ran up behind her and grabbed her purse. The victim fell to the ground while trying to retain control of the purse, and the suspect dragged her several feet until she released it. The suspect ran to a waiting vehicle, which fled on Dyer St. Two possible suspects have been identified in this case, which is still active.

On Saturday, July 8th, around 6 p.m., Ofc. Smith was dispatched to the area of Lowry Rd. and Corchero Way on the report of a purse snatch robbery that had occurred about 20 minutes prior. The victim said a female suspect exited a vehicle, grabbed her purse, and quickly got back into the vehicle, which fled on Lowry Rd. She was described as a Filipino woman, about 40-50 years old, 5’1” to 5’4” with a chubby build and warts on her right check. The driver was described as a Filipino male, 40-50 years old. The vehicle was described as a late model, gray, two-door sedan.

On Tuesday, July 4th, around 8:20 p.m., Ofc. Blanchard consensually contacted a subject in the 30000 block of Industrial Parkway SW. A probation search yielded a concealed knife. Jonathan Lee, a 30-year-old Union City resident, was arrested on weapons and drug charges.

On Saturday, July 8th, around 11:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Whipple Rd. on the report of gunshots. Witnesses described a vehicle and its occupants, who fired several gunshots into the air. The suspect vehicle was located nearby, with a handgun inside. The ammunition was a match to spent shell casings that were located in the area of the reported gunshots. Union City residents Antonio Gallegos, 34, and Anallely Cerda, 25, were both arrested for carrying a loaded firearm and negligent discharge.


From Monday, July 3rd through Sunday, July 9th, there was one reported residential burglary:
• 5000 block of Bridgepointe Pl.: Occurred between Sunday, July 2nd at 10:45 p.m., and Monday, July 3rd at 6:15 a.m. Unknown entry into a storage unit; the loss is unknown at this time.

From Monday, July 3rd through Sunday, July 9th, there were no reported commercial burglaries.

From Monday, July 3rd through Sunday, July 9th, there were four reported auto burglaries. Two occurred in commercial parking lots, and two in residential areas.
