7-Eleven owner stages a robbery with former employee in an attempt to defraud the corporation

DATE/TIME: October 4, 2017

INCIDENT: PC 484 (a) – Theft by Fraudulent Means
PC 182 (a) (1) – Conspiracy
PC 148.5 – File False Police Report

LOCATION: 7-11 Market 32487 Yucaipa Blvd, City of Yucaipa

SUSPECTS: Frank Edward Seville, Age: 38, resident of Hesperia

On Saturday, August 12, 2017, Frank Edward Seville contacted Yucaipa Police to report a robbery at the 7-11 Convenience Store located at 32487 Yucaipa Blvd. Seville is the franchise owner of the store, and reported that an unknown female subject had just robbed him. Seville stated the female subject shoved him as he was walking from the cash register to his office with the daily deposit, which contained a large amount of money. Seville reported the female subject stole the deposit envelope and fled the scene on foot.

Yucaipa Police Deputies and Detectives conducted a thorough investigation, and identified a male suspect as the suspect who committed the robbery. It was determined that the suspect was wearing a wig and baggy clothing, which were located near the business after the robbery.

Through the investigation, it was determined that Seville had planned and staged the robbery with a former employee; in an attempt to defraud the 7-11 corporation who refunded Seville the amount of money that he reported stolen.

In April of 2017, Seville also reported that another employee had stolen several California Lottery tickets with winnings in excess of $3,000. Further investigation is being conducted into that theft and it is believed Seville was part of planning that theft also.

On October 4, 2017, Yucaipa Police Detectives simultaneously served a search warrant at Seville’s residence in Hesperia, and at the 7-11 store. Seville was contacted at the store and detained for further investigation. At the conclusion of an interview with Seville, he was placed under arrest for the above charges. Seville was booked into the Central Detention Center in lieu of $150,000 bail.

Detectives believe that Seville may have cashed those winning lotto tickets at various stores between Yucaipa and Hesperia. Detectives are releasing the booking photo of Seville. If anyone recognizes Seville from cashing lottery tickets, they are urged to contact the Yucaipa Police Department, Detective Bureau.

Detectives are conducting an on-going investigation at this time. Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the detectives at the Yucaipa Police Department. If you choose to remain anonymous, call WeTip at 1-800-78-CRIME.
