“Police Blotter” Highlights – Ending Jan. 28, 2018
 
ROBBERIES
On Monday, Jan. 22nd, around 12:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to Union Landing on the report of a robbery. A delivery driver was unloading boxes of products from a truck when two male suspects pushed him and stole several boxes. They fled in a late 1980s model silver Acura four-door. Both suspects were described as black males, 18-22, with thin builds. One suspect was about 5’8” to 5’10,” and the other was about 5’10” to 6’0.”
 
On Thursday, Jan. 25th, around 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 4800 block of Gina Way on the report of a purse snatch robbery. A male suspect ran toward the victim and grabbed the purse off her shoulder, causing her to fall to the ground. He could only be described as being 20-30 years old, and about 5’6” to 5’7.”
 
On Saturday, Jan. 27th, around 12:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Decoto Rd. on the report of a robbery. Two suspects approached the victim, grabbed her laptop and cell phone, and fled on foot.
 
VEHICLE THEFT ARRESTS
On Tuesday, Jan. 23rd, around 11:50 p.m., Ofc. Jimenez was patrolling Union Landing when he located a vehicle reported stolen out of San Leandro. The 16-year-old male driver from Milpitas was arrested for vehicle theft and the possession of burglary tools. He was released to a guardian with a Notice to Appear.
 
On Friday, Jan. 26th, around 9:30 a.m., Ofc. Bellotti was near the Hayward/Union City border when he located a vehicle reported stolen out of San Jose. Copious amounts of mail, credit cards, checks and ID cards belonging to other people were also located in the vehicle. Ratamani Murphy, a 23-year-old Fremont resident, was arrested for vehicle theft, identity theft, the possession of stolen property, and the possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Friday, Jan. 26th, around 1 p.m., Ofc. Perry was in the 31800 block of Alvarado Blvd. when he located a vehicle reported stolen out of San Jose. A number of credit card applications, bank statements, checks, debit cards and ID cards belonging to other people were also located in the vehicle. Amir Sadri, a 42-year-old Union City resident, was arrested for vehicle theft, the misappropriation of found property, and various drug-related offenses.
 
On Friday, Jan. 26th, around 10 p.m., Ofc. Moya made a vehicle stop in the area of Regents Blvd. and Lisa Dr. The vehicle was determined to be an unreported stolen vehicle out of Union City. The driver, a 14-year-old Union City resident, was arrested for vehicle theft, petty theft, resisting arrest, and driving without a license.
 
PROACTIVE ENFORCEMENT
On Friday, Jan. 26th, around 12 a.m., Ofc. Rivas stopped a bicyclist for numerous vehicle code violations. A probation search yielded a stun gun in his backpack. The 30-year-old San Leandro resident was cited for felon in possession of a stun gun, and released.
 
On Friday, Jan. 26th, around 11 p.m., Ofc. Olson concluded a drug sales investigation that resulted in the arrest of Isaiah Castro, an 18-year-old San Jose resident.
 
BURGLARIES AND CAR THEFTS
 
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, Jan. 22nd through Sunday, Jan. 28th, there was one reported residential burglary:

  • 32000 block of Alvarado Niles Rd.: Occurred on Friday, Jan. 26th, between 12:30 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. The method of entry is unknown, and the loss included electronics.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, Jan. 22nd through Sunday, Jan. 28th, there were two reported commercial burglaries:
  • 34500 block of 11th St.: Occurred between Friday, Jan. 19th at 12 p.m., and Monday, Jan. 22nd at 6 a.m. A padlock was cut off a shipping container, and the loss included copper piping.
  • 30900 block of Union City Blvd.: Occurred between Wednesday, Jan. 24th at 3 p.m., and Friday, Jan. 26th at 7:30 a.m. The method of entry is unknown, and the loss included power equipment.
AUTO BURGLARIES AND VEHICLE THEFTS
From Monday, Jan. 22nd through Sunday, Jan. 28th, there were 13 reported auto burglaries, nine of which occurred at the Union Landing shopping center. The majority of the burglaries involved backpacks and electronics that were left in plain view on the seats or floorboards.

From Monday, Jan. 22nd through Sunday, Jan. 28th, there were five reported vehicle thefts. As of the time of this report, one of the vehicles has been recovered.
