A 50 year old Beaumont woman arrested after striking a motorcyclist and leading deputies on a pursuit

DATE/TIME: April 19, 2018 1:28 pm

INCIDENT: VC2800.2(a); Felony Evading / PC245(a)(1); Assault with a Deadly Weapon

LOCATION: 12500 Block of 14th Street, Yucaipa

SUSPECT: Gloria Moore, 50 years old, resident of Beaumont

On April 19, 2018, deputies from the Yucaipa Police Department responded to the 12500 block of 14th Street after dispatch received a 911 call from a reporting party who recognized a female in a blue sedan as the suspect in prior mail thefts in his neighborhood. The citizen followed the sedan on his motorcycle as it left the area. The suspect attempted to hit the citizen with her vehicle several times and, ultimately, did hit the motorcyclist, causing him minor injuries. Responding deputies located the suspect vehicle and a vehicle pursuit was initiated after the vehicle failed to yield during an attempted traffic stop.

Near the intersection of Oak Glen Road and 14th Street, deputies attempted to perform a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) on the vehicle. The PIT maneuver was not successful and two patrol units were disabled while attempting to end the pursuit. The suspect's driving became increasingly erratic and dangerous and the pursuit was cancelled for public safety reasons.

Shortly after the pursuit was cancelled, the suspect was unable to navigate the turn onto a bridge on Live Oak Canyon Rd south of Interstate 10. She lost control of her vehicle, exited the roadway and crashed into the bottom of a dry riverbed. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Gloria Moore, was detained at the scene by a citizen was observed her vehicle leave the roadway. She sustained minor injuries in the collision.

Moore was arrested for multiple felony charges and will be booked following medical clearance at an area hospital.
