Union City Police Officer Involved Shooting Press Release Update.

UPDATE: Officer Involved Shooting Investigation (Railroad Ave. @ E St.)

In the late evening hours of June 18th, police officers were conducting extra enforcement based on recent shootings reported in the area.  Officers spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen and attempted an enforcement stop on E Street near Railroad Ave.  During the stop the occupants exchanged gunfire with police. Two of the passengers ran away from the car as the car sped over the nearby railroad tracks.  The vehicle ultimately stopped on Whipple Road near Railroad Ave.

All three suspects were located and arrested in close proximity of the stop.   One of the suspects suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound and is being treated at a local hospital. No officers were injured in the exchange of gunfire. Two of the male suspects are 16 years of age and one is 15.  No additional suspect information is being released at this time.  There are no outstanding suspects and officers have recovered multiple firearms at the scene.

The three suspects have been arrested for multiple counts of attempted murder of a police officer and numerous weapons violations.  Additional charges may follow as the investigation continues.

This complex investigation is still on-going and the Union City Police Department is seeking assistance from the community and any witnesses to this crime.
