A Yucaipa man is arrested after he leads deputies on a pursuit

DATE/TIME: Wednesday, August 8, 2018 11:24 am

INCIDENT: Traffic Pursuit / Felony Evading

LOCATION: Wildwood Canyon Road / 3rd Street, Yucaipa

SUSPECT(S): Nathan Schultz, age 27 a resident of Yucaipa

SUMMARY: On Wednesday, August 8th, at approximately 11:24 am, Deputy Matt King was conducting traffic enforcement on Wildwood Canyon Road in response to multiple citizen complaints of vehicles speeding in the area. Deputy King observed a white male adult riding an off-road motorcycle on the street and attempted an enforcement stop.

The rider, later identified as Nathan Schultz, failed to yield and led the deputy on a 5.3-mile-long pursuit, running stop signs and signals and riding against traffic with no regard for public safety. Schultz abandoned his motorcycle and attempted to flee from deputies on foot but was immediately apprehended. Schultz was arrested for felony evading, transported and booked into the West Valley Detention Center where he is being held on $100,000. bail
