Financial Safety Program

DATE: 8-21-18
CONTACT: Lt. Chris Lick
PHONE: 760-839-4444

Members of our senior community routinely lose thousands of dollars from online, telephonic, and mail scams. By some estimates, older Americans are defrauded over $12 billion annually and their personal savings are drained. In an effort to protect and educate our senior groups, the Escondido Police Department launched the Financial Safety Training Program. The program was created by our financial crime investigators who stay current in the latest fraud scams.
Our goal is to prevent financial crimes against our senior community and to educate all members of our community in the methods used by criminals to defraud victims. EPD offers this free training program to all members of our community. We contact senior groups at retirement communities, mobile home parks, care facilities, senior living apartments, and churches to introduce and schedule trainings.
Our senior groups spent their lives serving our community and it is now our hope to be able to protect them and their assets through this program.
If you are interested in further information or in scheduling this training please email us at or call and leave a message at 760-839-4439.
