Citizen’s Police Academy Offered, May 6 – May 22

DATE: March 18, 2019
LOCATION: Milpitas Police Department

Do you have an interest in learning how the men and women of law enforcement are trained to do their job? Would you like more understanding about how a police department operates? Have you ever wondered why a police officer carries all that “stuff” on their belt? All these questions and more will be answered during the Milpitas Police Department’s 2019 Citizens Police Academy.

The Citizen’s Police Academy is a free 3-week course designed to familiarize the community with what it takes to be a police officer and provide valuable insight into the profession. The Citizen’s Police Academy will be taught on Monday and Wednesday nights, between 6:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., for three consecutive weeks starting May 6, 2019 and ending on May 22, 2019.

Through a series of lectures, staged scenarios, and hands-on exercises, participants will be exposed to training similar to what is taught in the actual police academy. Courses will range from Crime Scene Investigation (CSI), Canine Program, DUI Detection, Building Searches, Human Trafficking, “Run, Hide, Fight” Philosophy, and other topics of interest.

If you want to learn more about law enforcement and the Milpitas Police Department, sign up today--space is limited.
