Three Juvenile Gang Participants Arrested with Two Replica Semi-Automatic Firearms After Resisting Arrest (19-6696)

The Santa Rosa Police Department received information from the community regarding a 16-year-old male juvenile gang participant who was in possession of semi-automatic firearm.  Detectives from the Gang Crimes Team worked with the police department’s School Resource Officers to locate the juvenile.  The 16-year-old juvenile also had a felony juvenile arrest warrant for robbery.  
On Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 10:30 a.m., detectives from the Gang Crimes Team located the 16-year-old juvenile gang participant walking with two other male juveniles in the area of Marlow Road and Piner Road.  Detectives observed the three juveniles enter the Jack in the Box restaurant located at 3086 Marlow Road.  Detectives and officers attempted to contact the juveniles inside the restaurant to continue their investigation.  The three juveniles immediately became verbally and physically resistive.  One juvenile reached for his waistband as if he was attempting to produce a firearm.  Detectives and Officers grabbed the juveniles, limiting their movement and took them to the ground where they were handcuffed and detained. 
Two of the juveniles were in possession of concealed replica firearms, one of which attempted to brandish the concealed semi-automatic firearm from his waistband.   
The three juveniles were arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Juvenile Justice Center for: Misdemeanor PC 148(a)(1) - Willfully Delaying, Resisting or Obstructing Arrest.  Two of the juveniles had outstanding juvenile arrest warrants. 
The three juveniles are all 16 years of age and from Santa Rosa.  Two of the juveniles were truant Santa Rosa City Schools high school students.  The third juvenile was a truant continuation school student.
